Coming off a windy month of March fishing 24 out of 31 days, it seemed like the wind never stopped. The bone fishing in Miami’s Biscayne Bay as been phenomenal for the past three weeks. I’ve mainly had fly anglers while bone-fishing and permit fishing, and for the first time fly anglers that have never bone-fished before, it has been a little overwhelming due to the wind.

I’ve been mixing it up from Biscayne Bay to Flamingo Everglades National Park and Islamorada. The red fishing in the backcountry has been great, with plenty of schools and tailing fish around. Whitewater Bay has had lots of big trout and reds along with a few snook around as well.

The tarpon fishing in the back county has been pretty good, but challenging when the wind’s blowing pushing them down deep.

It’s April now and it seems like the wind finally stopped blowing and it’s prime time poon season now. I’ll be tarpon fishing primarily for the next three months and I will be down in the Florida Keys in Islamorada chasing tarpon.

I have Five days in April open and some date still mid June. So if you’re looking to book a trip, don’t wait to long because they’re filling up fast.

The weather this week has been good one day and bad the next. The early part of the week has been windy and cloudy making it tuff for site fishing. The bonefishing has been good especially on the days when we can sit fish them. On the overcast days, if you chum they will come.

I’ve been seeing quite a few permit around as well, and as long as it stays warm, it should stay consistent. Biscayne Bay has some of the best permit fishing around so if you want your chance at some permit, Miami Florida is the place to be.

The snook fishing in Flamingo Everglades National Park is just getting better and better every time I make it out there. If you want to catch some snook, now is the time.

If your in town and can’t make it out during the day, don’t forget we have a great night time fishery. The tarpon fishing in Miami is going off, so if you want to make it out in the evenings for a 4-hour trip give me a call.

My open dates for next week are Monday 2/20 and 2/22

The snook fishing in Flamingo Everglades National Park is going off! With the warm winter here in South Florida along with the warmer water temps, the snook have been actively feeding.

As long as we keep having warm weather the snook fishing will remain this way all season long. The tarpon are starting to show as well in Florida Bay so I’m expecting an early start to tarpon season just like last year.

I still have some days available for tarpon season in April and June. May is all booked up. If you want to hold down some day, give me a call to go over some dates.

If you have the snook bug, give me a call.

South Florida Winter fishing is red hot, especially in Flamingo Everglades National Park. There are plenty of snook, redfish, trout, black drum, and sheep head around. This is the time of year where it’s not uncommon to catch several dozen fish a day.

Biscayne Bay has been good as well with mutton snapper in the finger channels and grouper and spanish mackeral in the mix.

The bonefishing has been consistant up and down Biscayne Bay, with some days being better than others.

The tarpon are staging in the inlets and bridges and on occasion I’ve been able to make it out there at first light and try to hook one up before bonefishing.

Now is a great time to fish, give me a call if your thinking coming down and booking a trip.

On the days where the conditions have been good, the bonefish have been active and feeding really hard. This week looks great as far as conditions, so if you want to give it a try give me a call.

Its been a busy month and I’ve been all over the place from Miami’s Biscayne Bay to Islamorada Florida Keys and Flamingo (Everglades National Park).

The weather we’ve been having lately has been pretty frustrating with lots of wind and rain coming from the gulf as well as the Caribbean. I had several days where I had no choice but to cancel some trips, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

On a side note. Shallow Tails Guide Service has joined up with Capt J.T Gabrielle who operates the 106′ Westship motor yacht Galilee. We are offering mother ship charters from 5 to 14 days starting in January 2012 all the way through the spring.

The Galilee is a top notch motor yacht with all the luxurys of a five star hotel. The Galilee can accomodate from 6 to 8 anglers not including crew.

The Galilee is currently located in Miami, Florida ready for charter. We are offering locations in Biscayne Bay Elliot Key, Islamorada and lower keys, as well as Everglades adventures.

If your coming into town to fish with me and don’t want to stay in a hotel, the Galilee is also available for overnight stay. The cost per night will be close to what you will pay for a hotel on south beach and Key Biscayne. The only difference will be that you will have personal service, breakfast every morning, and a packed lunch for your day of fishing.

The Galilee is located 10 minutes from south beach and there is plenty of entertainment near by. The Galilee is also equipped with Kayaks, Jet skies, Jacuzzi, and two boat tenders available when booking a 5 to 14 day charter.

If you or your company is interested in booking a guided trip aboard the Galilee, please contact me for
packages and pricing detail.
